UPDATE - Timothy & Sarah Comising, National Church Planter, Philippines 8/31/10

Magsaysay Institute of Shipping Pre-Sea Training Cadets, batch 3, was admitted July 18. Our lectures started the following Sunday. To date we're half done with our seminar. On the second week, Pastor Sam Comising extended an invitation to receive Christ as Lord and personal Savior. 60 of the 61 cadets raised their hands to indicate their desire to receive Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior. This was unusual since we usually explain the Gospel in groups of 7 and ask for a response on the last day of the seminar. God be praised for this very early response.

Another development in the church ministry is the coming to maturity of young people who were just listeners in our group discussions when we started the ministry two years ago. Today five of them who faithfully attended are now group leaders and facilitators. Other older men who served as facilitators are now leading in our morning worship services. The Lord has seen fit to train our youth and men in this ministry. To God be the glory.

We have yet to finish our facilities for continuing our ministry to students. We are in the last phase of our construction since we transferred to a new and permanent location. This time we are not only targeting the students, but also the out-of-school youth. Our thrust is to help and empower youth through the different programs of our ministry in what we now call our Youth Development Center. Programs ongoing are our music tutorials; dual program tie-up with the National College of Science and Technology where young people are given a three month training after which they are given a job and an opportunity to finish college while working. We are at the moment working on a partnership with other youth-oriented government programs that can be offered to the out-of-school youth in our community. We believe that by helping to meet their need, we will have an opportunity to reach them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Prayer Requests:

• $500 US for the completion of construction for our Youth Development Center.
• Follow-up of the 60 cadets who prayed to receive Christ.
• Funds to buy more musical instruments to replace the old and broken ones.
• Funds to buy 2 ping pong tables and 2 dart boards.
• Wisdom and good health for Pastor Tim Comising & family.
• An opportunity to raise additional financial support for growing family and ministry needs.
