UPDATE - Kouami & Afi Midekor, National Church Planter, Togo 6/24/10

Kouami & Adi MidekorWe are glad once again to write these few lines to update you on the progress that has been made lately in the ministry here in Togo. We can only thank the Lord for His enablement and the encouragement from many of you; individuals and churches.  We do appreciate your prayers and material support for the ministry in this part of West Africa. Many efforts have been made in the area of church planting, evangelism, youth ministry and adult ministry as well.

MINISTRY
By the end of June, schools will be closed. This will give us the opportunity to begin our summer activities. The plans for this year's activities include VBS in the various churches from the south to the north, beginning June 12 in Lomé, thused clothing ministrye capital city of Togo. Ten VBSs are planned in collaboration with Child Evangelism Ministries of Elkhart and LaGrange Counties, Indiana. Among other things, there will also be a used clothing distribution in the northern churches. This social ministry comes with good reports. Last year, we reached four churches in the north (Galangachi, Poloti, Ngambi and Kouokou). We are asking people to help if possible with this ministry. We cannot ask you to send used clothes to us, as transportation and charges make this too expensive, but any financial help toward purchasing the clothing here is welcomed.

NEW CHURCH IN DJAGBLE
This work is about 6 kilometers from Lomé. We have been doing door-to-door witnessing in this village and it is time to turn this into an organized church. Many of the converts in Djagble come to church at Hedzranawoe. We believe that it is time for them to worship in their own place. Another place we have surveyed and have purchased a piece of land is Ahepe. This place is a needy area for a solid Bible-believing church. For some time now, we have tried to find a person who would be willing and committed to working in this place, but in vain. Would you please pray with us that the Lord touches someone’s heart to go in that village? Another place in the same situation is the village of Gando, in the northern part of the country. This place is 85% Muslim. We also have a piece of property there, donated for a church building.

FAMILY
The family is planning a furlough at the end of July. We plan to spend some time in the US to report to churches and individuals, many of whom have supported the ministry in Togo for years. We do not have a permanent address in the US as of yet, but as our trip gets closer, we will inform you of where we shall be residing in the US while traveling.  We would like to thank all of you who have faithfully supported the ministry in Togo since we began the evangelistic, church planting ministry here.

PRAISES

  • We would like to praise the Lord for the ongoing church planting activities in the northern part of Togo.
  • Praise the Lord for the spiritual and numerical growth of our churches.
  • We thank the Lord for the people who have donated the funds for the plane ticket for the family.
  • We thank the Lord for the stability in the churches even though the political and economical situations are deplorable.
  • We praise the Lord that we were able to put roof on the building at Ngambi.

man needing prosthetic legPRAYER REQUESTS:

  • Need for building for the northern churches. We plan to build the same structure for all of them. We envision about $5000 for each building.
  • We have asked people to help with a prosthetic leg for one of the believers in one of the northern church. This man had an encounter with a crocodile during a fishing trip. We are still in need of about $300 to help with this situation.
  • Please pray with us as we make preparations to travel to the US.
  • Need for funds to finish the Hedzranawoe church building.

May the Lord bless you and may He prosper all your enterprises.
