UPDATE - Ben & Elise Meloro, Missionary, Nova Scotia, Canada 7/14/10
Greetings from sunny--today, that is!--Nova Scotia. As I am writing this, I am reminded of Hebrews 12:1-2: "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith..." As all of us are running this race together, may our eyes focus on Jesus as we draw near to that finish line!
Speaking of running, Elise and I just celebrated 16 years here in Nova Scotia! We praise God for all the great things He has done in our lives. We actually have “Landed Day” written on our calendar next to June 9th. That is the date that we went through customs in Canada and were admitted as “Landed Immigrants”. To remember that day, we read from the journal where Elise wrote down how God had provided a bus to move us, a house to live in, finances to cover it all and many more details. Most importantly were and are the wonderful people God placed in our lives. We are so grateful for each one of YOU! We thank God always for you.
For Prayer:
- Would you pray for Steve Crane, who is dying of cancer? He installed siding on houses and is a tough character. The Gospel of Salvation has been plainly presented to him many times. Steve asked me to pray and not give up on him!
- Also remember Phillip and Guy (the man who is still quoting Bible verses!).
The Bible study courses are over for the summer, although we have the books for the Fall course so we can keep spending time in God’s Word through the summer. We are so happy to have a person in the church who is equipped now to lead Bible studies. How we need the gift of teaching!
Amazing are the opportunities God gives me to teach about Him. I performed a wedding in which I used human love to illustrate God’s love for us through the Savior, Jesus Christ.& It was wonderful to have so many people listening. Even the children were quiet. There is another wedding I will do in August, Lord willing.
This item I left for last, but it really should be first because it is so important to us. We realize the need to come home and visit you, as it has been 5 years since we last returned. We think it would be best to have a “Travel Fund” so we can plan when to come. We would like to travel in September, Lord willing. It would be better for churches to give to our trip now rather than when we speak, as is the usual custom. That way, we will have the funds to travel. We want to drive our own car, as renting one is more expensive. In order to do that, we will need some work done on it. When we took off our wonderful new winter tires, we put on almost bald all-season ones. We also need new brakes, as well as some other things done. We estimate about $2,500 US for these repairs. You can see why we aren’t able to travel more often! If the Lord is leading you to contribute to bring us home, send your donation to IGM with “Travel Fund” noted on it. We hope to be speaking with you in person soon, but until then, may God bless you and give you many sunny summer days in which to enjoy His presence.
