Wilson & Pamela Maungo
Baptist Faith Mission Fellowship, East Africa - Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and DRC
Wilson's Personal Testimony:
I was born and raised in a community that did not know the true God. They believe that their God lives in the Crater of Mt. Eligon. Twice a year they would go there and do sacrifices to the ancestral spirits. They also strongly believed in traditions and witchcraft. Shortly after I had gone through initiation to become a tribal man, I passed by the Village Market where a street preacher was preaching and giving out tracts. I took one home and read it for the first time. It had a quotation from Psalm 119:176. I have gone astray like a lost sheep... these words strongly touched my heart and I felt the need to have the Lord in my life. I read the reciting prayer as I surrendered my life to the Lord. Later the Lord opened a door to me to learn more of His Word. For three years I attended the Baptist College in Kenya.
My Focus:
- To win many lost souls to the Savior - Proverbs 11:30 “...and he that winneth souls is wise.”
- To plant many Independent Baptist Churches
- To train young people in leadership roles in the Bible Institute
- To care for the less fortunate children in our churches with clothing, education, shelter and medications.
In October, 1991, Baptist Faith Mission began with a fellowship of two families at the Shanty of Kitale town. By the grace of God, the fellowship has grown to 72 churches and 2 preaching points in five countries. We praise the Lord for his grace. We began with two orphans in the year 2000 and God has also blessed this outreach. BMF now supports five orphanages and over 170 orphans. The Huruma Orphanage School was officially registered in 2006 by the government of Kenya, with 387 orphans. This became the first of many educational ministries, currently including 8 Christian elementary and high schools, serving over 1600 students, the Independent Gospel Bible Institute and several trade schools. Other ministries in development include the Uganda Medical Clinic and the Huruma Water Project. Pastor Maungo currently oversees over 60 national pastors with churches in 16 different regions.
